Three members of Taunton Deane Masters Swimming Group took part in the Civil Service Sports Club National Swimming, Diving, Waterpolo and Lifesaving Champsionships in May 2014. Fiona Bloor, Nick Biddiscombe, Keith Swan and Jono Wheelhouse (all regular TD Masters swimmers) represented the MOD and helped contribute to a substantial medal and trophy haul placing the MOD third out of 13 other civil service departments.

The medal haul was impressive. Particular highlights from the swimming include Jono's gold in 50m freestyle (26.80), Nick's PB in 50m freestyle (29.54) - broken again in 200m mixed relay (sub 29) and Fiona's impressive haul of golds in 50m freestyle, breaststroke and countless relays.

And it wasn't only the swimming events that were well attended - Keith won gold representing the Civil Service in Waterpolo, Nick and Keith gained Bronze medals in the springboard and firmboard diving competitions respectively, and Fiona helped ensure the Lifesaving shield was kept proudly with the MOD ladies team for another year running.

With TD Masters the only training most of us get in preparation for these competitions, it really is down to our trainers (BIG thanks go to Emily specifically) fellow swimmers, and everyone involved with making the Masters sessions the beneficial and fun sessions they are! There wouldn't be half as many medals without them!
